UNSCRIPTED TELEVISION

These are scenes from the huge range of television series I field produced, directed and often shot as a freelancer from 2010 to 2015. The first series "The Edge of Eighteen" was executive produced by Academy Award Winning Director Alex Gibney for Al Jazeera America. The second series "Starter Wives" starred an ensemble cast of women who lived in infamy because of extremely famous exes including DMX, Floyd Mayweather and Lamar Odom. The third series "Take Me To Your Mother" with comedian Andrea Rosen focused on learning how to be a better mother by meeting more experienced moms. The fourth series "Blood, Sweat and Tears" followed an ensemble of women of color building successful creative careers and lives in Manhattan. The fifth series "Made" was an MTV staple for 14 seasons and I shot and produced several. This was my first full episode to shoot and produce and it was one of the highest rated episodes ever. The last series "American Daredevils" was a multi-camera show following three teams of daredevils who performed and hustled across the country. We spent almost as much time in hospitals as we did shooting stunts.

I field and studio produced seasons 2 & 3 of Stacy London's hit makeover show "Love, Lust or Run." This was the last TV series I produced before jumping to branded content. It was a complex show that utilized most of my producer capabilities starting with casting, directing field segments, working in the studio and on locations with celebrity talent, closely guarding talent from seeing their makeover in progress and capturing multiple man on the street interviews with less than an hour of turn around time. It takes an enormous amount of focus and mental discipline to command authority and trust with EXTREME personalities at the hands of strongly opinionated and talented creatives to let go and find joy in change. It was difficult and I loved every minute of it.

This was one of the most powerful scenes I've ever captured. I was the director, DP, audio and producer. It was also one of the rare shows I was also able to produce in post. I directed, produced, and shot two full episodes and assisted on all six episodes of this deeply personal documentary series from executive producers Liz Gateley and Tony DiSanto. The creators of Teen Mom, 16 & Pregnant, and Jersey Shore turned their hit-making docu-reality lens onto the subject of adoption. The series tracked the emotional journey with a primary focus on an agonizing period, unknown to most people but common to many adoptions, where the birth mom has the option to take her child back from the prospective adoptive family. Scenes like this take complete trust from the families to capture heartbreaking moments that are more human and powerful than anything scripted.
